Barkhor Street is the most prosperous commercial street in Lhasa built around the Jokhang Temple. Everyone who comes to Lhasa knows about Bajiao Street. But when it comes to "Bakuo Street", far fewer people know about it. In fact, Barkhor Street is the correct name of Bajiao Street.

Barkhor Street is also called Bajiao Street. It is said that because Sichuan people account for a large proportion in Lhasa and the pronunciations of "Kuo" and "Jiao" are similar in Sichuan dialect, Barkhor Street is mistakenly pronounced as "Bajiao Street". . Later, people misunderstood the meaning of the name and even thought that Bajiao Street was because the ring street had eight corners.

Barkhor Street is a polygonal street ring composed of Barkhor East Street, Barkhor West Street, Barkhor South Street and Barkhor North Street. It has a circumference of more than 1,000 meters. There are many branch roads in the street and there are 35 streets and alleys.

The Bajiao Street prayer path is the most important prayer path in the hearts of the Tibetan people. It means "middle circle" in Tibetan, which is relative to the "Lin Kuo" and the "Nang Kuo" in the Jokhang Temple. There are more than 120 handicraft shops and more than 200 sales stalls.
