Meili Snow Mountain is called "Kawagbo Snow Mountain" in Tibetan areas. The local Tibetan people named it, endowed it with divinity, and maintained a flesh-and-blood connection with it from generation to generation. The word "Meili" is the Chinese translation of the Deqin Tibetan language "mainri", which means "medicine mountain". It is named because it is rich in various precious medicinal materials. It was established in July 2009 and officially opened in October of the same year. The total area of the park Covering an area of 960 square kilometers, it is located at the junction of Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet provinces. It is the heartland of the Greater Shangri-La Tourist Area and the Three Parallel Rivers World Natural Heritage, and is a national AAAA-level scenic spot. It is located about 20 kilometers west of Deqin County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province The 1,000-meter-long Hengduan Mountains lies in the middle section between the Nujiang River and the Lancang River, and is connected to Mangkang County and Zuogong County in Qamdo City in the Tibet Autonomous Region and Zayu County in Nyingchi Prefecture in the northwest. "The main peak has an altitude of 6,740 meters, making it the highest peak in Yunnan. The main peak with an altitude of 6,740 meters is still the "virgin peak" that humans have not conquered, and it is also the only peak that is prohibited from climbing due to cultural protection.

Meili Snow Mountain is the holy land of Yongzhong Bon Religion. Yong Zhong Bon Religion has four major sacred mountains, mainly Gangdise Mountain in Ngari, Benri Sacred Mountain in Linzhi, Zizhu Mountain in Qamdo, and Meili Snow Mountain in Deqin. Meili Snow Mountain is a sacred mountain, and is known as the four sacred mountains of Tibetan Buddhism together with Mount Kailash in Tibet, Mount Animaqing in Qinghai, and Gaduo Juewo in Qinghai.
