Zhayeba Monastery is a Nyingma sect (Red Sect) monastery and one of the four major monasteries in Tibet. First built in the 7th century AD, it has a history of 1,500 years ago. It is one of the spiritual temples built by Tubo Zampo Songtsan Gampo for his beloved concubine Princess Mansa Chizun. Later, it was expanded several times to form a tight temple. Zhayeba Temple is embedded in the cliff wall. The biggest feature is that the temple is built with a cave and the cave and temple are integrated into one.

Different from the surrounding peaks with only a shallow layer of turf on the surface, Zayeba is full of natural aura. The pines and cypresses on the mountain are tall and straight, dense and green, and the clear springs and streams flow under the mountain. In spring and summer, mountain flowers bloom and hundreds of birds sing. The Zayeba Temple is nestled among the cliffs, which is a unique sight.

The Zayeba Temple is tightly embedded in the cliff. According to legend, it was a spiritual temple built by the Tibetan princess Mangsa Chijiang who left the bloodline of Songtsen Gampo.
